Let's do a tie applique! February will be here before we know it which means it’s time to think about Valentine’s Day!Don’t leave out the guys this year. They deserve something fun to wear too 🙂 This easy boys Valentine’s Day Tee adds just the right amount of class to any little guys wardrobe.
I just love a little guy in a tie!And I love that we can get some use out of this throughout the rest of the year as well since it’s not v-day overkill
Now our handsome little man just needs some parties to hit up.He’s in search of a toddler girl who enjoys trucks and snack time 🙂
I used this size for Will who is wearing a 2t shirt. For a younger or older child you can print it off at a smaller or larger percent.Of course you can just wing it too but I find my things turn out best if I have something to follow
You will also need a shirt.I sewed up my own use theClassic Ringer Tee. For a baby theLullaby Line Bodysuitis a great choice. You can definitely start with a store bought tee instead but in the little sizes I find it’s much easier to get the applique on before the shirt is sewn up.And then you can choose fun colors for the neckline and cuffs which is always a bonus 🙂
To applique the tie on I used double sided fusible interfacing.I cut out my interfacing using the pattern and then fused it to the wrong side of my tie and heart fabric.Next I cut out my pieces, peeled off the backing and ironed everything to the front tee piece.
If you don’t think the shirt will get much wear you can just leave it.For some added durability and some extra visual appeal I stitched around the entire design using a zig-zag stitch.I kept my stitch length fairly long but if you would like it to resemble an embroidery machine just keep your stitch length nice and short. Then sew up your tee and you’re done!Until next time…
