Our Denim Jacket Patterns

We offer two different pdf denim jacket patterns - the Denim Jacket Pattern for Women and the Kid's Denim Jacket Pattern.

You can choose from a classic denim jacket or a cozy sweatshirt sleeves with an attached hood for a layered look. Learn new skills and create a project you can be proud of! 

The Women's Denim Jacket sewing pattern includes the following options:

  • View A: Traditional denim jacket with woven sleeves and a collar
  • View B: Denim jacket with knit sleeves, a collar and a knit hood
  • Optional welt pockets
  • Optional chest pockets: faux or functional
  • Optional button tabs on the bottom band

These different options give you a way to sew a classic jean jacket with your pdf pattern or the versatility to add things like front pockets, piece sleeve with knit fabric, etc.

Choose Your Fabric for your Jean Jacket Pattern

As you can see with the pattern options outlined above, there are a couple of different ways you can make these patterns. View A is a traditional denim jacket or jean jacket pattern and you'll want some good bottomweight fabric to make the whole thing. You could use denim, twill, etc.

If you go with Option B, then you'll end up making your hood / sleeves out of something like sweatshirt fleece or french terry. Other Materials you'll need include jean buttons or heavy duty snaps and some cording.

Other Materials Needed for Your Jean Jacket Sewing Pattern

Apart from fabric, you'll also need a few other supplies to sew a denim jacket:

  • 3.5" Piece of Cording, Narrow Twill Tape, etc. for hanging loop (optional)
  • Denim or Heavy Duty Needle
  • Topstitching Thread
  • Tailors Chalk or Fabric Marking Pen
  • Wash-Away Wonder Tape or Washable Glue Stick
  • Lightweight Fusible Interfacing (only required for lighter weight fabrics).
